10 Mbps WiMAX Deployment in Ontario

Redline Communications, a Toronto-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure provider, along with Comcentric Networking Inc.(Comcentric), a consortium of Ontario-based networking and communications providers, announced the successful deployment of advanced WiMAX networks to connect business and residential broadband subscribers in Southwestern Ontario.
The wait for WiMAX is over. Redlines RedMAX solutions have enabled us to roll out wireless Internet services in selected coverage areas to meet consumer demands for true broadband speeds and support for data and voice communications, said Tim DeWeerd, General Manager of Quadro Communications and a director of Comcentric, in a release. Rural businesses and residents in our region who previously had no access to broadband services via traditional wireline networks can now connect using the most advanced broadband wireless technologies available.
Quadro Communications, one of the Comcentric owner companies, worked closely with Nexicom, a diverse communications company and leader in telecommunications in Central Ontario, to roll out Redlines WiMAX solution south of Mitchell in late 2006. After a rigorous selection process, Redlines RedMAX system was chosen to expand Comcentrics existing fixed wireless network, enabling the consortium to reach more subscribers, deliver advanced communications services, and ensure faster connection speeds for users. In the summer of 2007, the Comcentric companies plan to expand their WiMAX services to businesses and residents in the areas surrounding Stratford and Lucan.
With an extended reach of more than 15 kilometers, speeds of up to 10 Mbps, advanced encryption, quality of service (QoS) controls, VLAN capabilities, and ability to support up to thousands of users on a single base station, RedMAX enables Comcentric and other carriers, mobile operators, ISPs, enterprises other network operators to support heavy data and voice traffic on their networks.
