Telecom Hall of Fame Recognizes MTS Centenary

MTS Allstream will receive the 2008 Special Recognition Award from Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame at a special ceremony in Ottawa.

MTS Allstream will formally be inducted, along with its prairie-based counterparts, at the 4th Annual Telecom Laureate Awards gala on October 29, 2008 in the Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec.

The selection of MTS Allstream as a one of three recipients of the 2008 Special Recognition Award was by Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame.

"MTS Allstream is justifiably proud of its past and proud of its Manitoba roots," said Lorne Abugov, Founder of the Telecommunications Hall of Fame. "For this reason, we are happy to recognize the significant contributions that MTS Allstream has made, through innovation and leading-edge technology, to the growth and economic development of its home province over the past 100 years."

"As MTS Allstream celebrates its second century of connecting Canadians, we are proud to have Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame acknowledge our company's pioneering spirit and success. The Special Recognition Award from Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame is given to a technology, location, event, organization, or group of individuals or organizations that have contributed significantly to Canada's telecommunications industry. Established in 2005, the not-for-profit organization promotes and celebrates the rich history of the
telecommunications industry in Canada, and fulfills its mission through three programs: The Telecom Laureate Program, the Education Program, and the Outreach Program.
