Tagging the ROM - Digital Graffiti Unveiled

"SKRTCH" is the tag or identifier given to a new interactive digital graffiti projection technology that allows participants to digitally 'tag' a wall using a laser.

It will be presented by The Canadian Film Centre (CFC)'s Media Lab as part of Manifesto 2008.

Manifesto 2008 is an urban arts and culture festival that celebrates Toronto's vibrant and diverse music and arts community.

CFC Media Lab has taken digital graffiti to the next level, by evolving the open source code from Graffiti Research Lab's L.A.S.E.R. Tag into SKRTCH, turning graffiti art into animated 3D imaging by the sketch of a laser and a scratch of a turntable.

SKRTCH will be projected on the North East Face of the Royal Ontario Museum (R.O.M.) during the Manifesto's Film Festival party on Thursday September 18th at 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. Audiences are invited to drop by and try their hand at tagging one of Canada's most revered cultural institutions.

Running from September 17 – 21, the Manifesto music and arts festival takes over the city for five days of live musical performances, visual art exhibitions, film screenings, hip hop karaoke, a street dance competition and more.
