Super U is joining forces with TAC.tv (a.k.a Têtes à claques) to announce an online animation contest during the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Also scheduled to attend from Salambo Productions: Catalina Briceno (Head of Operations), Simon Parizeau, (Studio Director), Hugo Caron, (Artistic Director and designer), Alexis Cadieux (Writer).

TAC.TV (a.k.a Têtes à claques) is former ad man Michel Beaudet's original Canadian production of Web-based short, animated clips.

Through a unique combination of claymation and video that superimposes live action on dolls and clay, the absurdly funny storylines feature a wide cast of unforgettable characters.
Since its launch in mid-August 2006, the website has garnered 520 million page-views and attracts more than a million fans each month. (source: Google Analytics).

Super U is the online venue to watch the latest Canadian short films.

Super U recently announced its most recent winning film "Hero" by Ajay Bhandari, who has won $1,000 in its "Our Hero" contest. The short, chosen by Super U members, will also have the chance to be broadcast on Super Channel.
The short film "Hero" takes place in a nightclub and revolves around the endless rejections a couple of guys suffer when they approach women on the dance floor. While the film is semi-autobiographical, Bhandari stated, in reference to the film's ending, "I don't actually approach guys taking three women home and tell them that they're my hero."

A busy student at the University of Calgary, Bhandari spends the majority of his free time working on short films. He started acting when he was 10 years old and has been making no-budget films since his father bought the family's first camcorder. Bhandri's passion for filmmaking runs in the family, his younger brother, Ashok Bhandari, won the $1,000 Grand Prize in the Super U "Family War & Peace" contest.

Bhandari encourages other filmmakers and film lovers to put Super U at the top of their favourites list: "By holding a number of ongoing contests, Super U really encourages a variety of different films. The exposure, the prizes, and the chance for broadcast really attracts young independent filmmakers."

Super U short films are qualified by the viewers themselves. Filmmakers enjoy on-site contests and exposure to broadcasters like Super U's partner Super Channel, Canada's national pay television network. As Super U grows, filmmakers will share in the advertising revenues generated on the site.
