Quebec-based Cactus Commerce is the development company behind the Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium’s retail website.

The Consortium is the official Canadian broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Using its CommerceLive B2C cross channel e-commerce solution, Cactus created the interactive online presence to support the broadcasting consortium in its multi-tiered e-commerce strategy.

The online store, developed for both English and French audiences, offers Olympic merchandise including hats, scarves and a commemorative DVD box set. The Believe apparel on sale in the stores was originally created as a promotional prop for TV and online campaigns but due to strong consumer demand these items are now available for sale online. A portion of all sales from the merchandise will go towards supporting Canadian athletes at the 2010 Olympics.

The CommerceLive solution is built using Microsoft tools and technologies, including Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Cactus describes.

“The extremely aggressive and time sensitive nature of this e-commerce project is exactly the type of scenario where our CommerceLive solution shines. The out of the box features, coupled with the solution’s dynamic flexibility enabled our Client to launch an e-commerce presence in an extremely aggressive timeframe. In addition, CommerceLive enables a user experience that will integrate seamlessly with their current online and offline marketing and merchandising efforts, ” Tony Marinelli, CEO, Cactus Commerce, said in a release.

“As the official Canadian broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, we are offering Canadians the most robust and interactive online presence through a multi-tiered e-commerce strategy,” described Dan Cimoroni, Vice President of Business Development, Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.  “Cactus Commerce has proven experience in designing, developing and managing e-commerce sites and is able to leverage out-of-the-box functionality that meets our diversified objectives.”
