Another car crash at the intersection of old and new media? Or a smooth straight route to a reinvigorated audience and industry?
New technologies like smartphones and connected tablets, along with new techniques like user generated content and social media networking are and will undoubtedly have an impact on traditional media and content publishers.
In a series of international seminars, workshops and media presentations, these topics and many more will be investigated during Social Media Week, v 2010.
It kicks off Monday, February 1 with events online and around the world.
Toronto is one of six cities hosting the conference with a schedule of events designed to advance the use and understanding of social media in the corporate, public and non-profit sectors.
These events mark the second annual conference, being held February 1st – 5th in New York City, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Toronto and São Paulo.
The week-long, international Social Media Week conference is designed as a series of localized events, which individual city partners are responsible for organizing. Over the course of the week and in each city, programs will span a variety of formats, ranging from talks, presentations and panel discussions, to interactive workshops, seminars, networking events and drinks receptions.
Each event, including the live stream and backchannel conversations will be hosted on the Social Media Week website, allowing for participants from around the world and across multiple cities to take part in the conference.
