Sportsnet is clearing the bases with expanded multi-platform Blue Jays baseball coverage, starting with today’s spring training opener and extending to the World Series - 1993 that is.

Sportsnet is using all its broadcast, cable and digital platforms, including a newly redesigned mobile app, for comprehensive spring training and regular season Jays game coverage, and it is reliving the glory of the Jays last World Series victory with special repeat airings of the historic championship run on FX Canada, Rogers’ action and entertainment specialty channel.

Rogers will make a free preview of the subscription service available for the airing of games from the ‘93 World Series victory, the Jays’ second championship in a row, capped by Joe Carter’s famous walk-off home run.

From February 24 to March 23, baseball fans can catch each play of the ’93 World Series that saw the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Philadelphia Phillies for the second of their back-to-back championship titles.

The repeat broadcast of Game 1 airs Sunday, February 24 on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific (see full broadcast schedules below).

Meanwhile, in order to accommodate all the baseball coverage, whether its from 1993 or 2013, Rogers announced it will use the Sportsnet channels, and FX Canada to carry six additional spring training telecasts.

Multi-platform Grapefruit League coverage from Florida begins today (see full broadcast schedules below) as the Blue Jays open the pre-season against the 2012 American League Champion Detroit Tigers on Sportsnet East, Ontario, and Pacific and on Sportsnet 590 The FAN.

Sportsnet has added the Blue Jays @ Philadelphia Phillies game on Sunday, March 3, which will feature Sportsnet’s broadcast team. FX Canada will provide coverage of five games starting with Toronto @ New York Yankees on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Rogers Cable customers will receive FX Canada in free preview during the Blue Jays broadcasts.

Sportsnet’s Toronto Blue Jays 2013 Spring Training broadcast schedule includes seven games telecast on Sportsnet, 33 game broadcasts on Sportsnet 590 The FAN, and four games on Sportsnet 960 The FAN. Sportsnet 590 The FAN’s 33 pre-season games will also be streamed live online at www.sportsnet.ca/590.

Sportsnet has also now released the newly re-designed Sportsnet Mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and iTouch – available free on the App Store and in iTunes.

Following the launch of the recently enhanced app for the BlackBerry 10 platform, Sportsnet Mobile for the iOS platform is designed to provide greater access to stats, customizable alerts and up-to-the-second game scores from the biggest leagues from around the world.

“The Sportsnet Mobile app is a must-have for all sports fans that need to access content on-the-go, putting information and entertainment at their fingertips,” said Pary Bell, Vice President and General Manager, Rogers Digital Media. “With our new apps, we’ve made it easier than ever for users to access all of the information they are looking for. The iOS versions complement our existing BlackBerry 10 app and are the next step in making Sportsnet a leader on state-of-the-art digital platforms. We are committed to bringing our audiences the content they want on their device of choice.”

In the coming weeks, Sportsnet says it will also launch apps for Android phones and tablets.

Key features of the new Sportsnet Mobile for iPhone, iPad and iTouch include MySN, where users can customize the app to follow specific teams, players and fantasy leagues; real-time alerts, with up-to-the-second coverage on any game, including instant notifications of in-game moments like goals, touchdowns, end of a period, quarters, interceptions and more; and the new horizontal mode, letting users see even more stats by turning the device sideways
