Canada’s national broadcaster is working with a California based Video-over-IP firm to provide viewer analytics and optimized broadband content delivery.
The CBC is working with video stream optimizer Conviva on the integration of its pre-emptive optimization and per-viewer performance analytics tools for an enhanced TV experience on any device.
The agreement with CBC and Conviva adds Conviva’s flagship pre-emptive adjustment product, Precision Video, and also provides instant visibility with its analytics offering, Insights. The goal is online video delivery without buffering and stuttering for a better customer experience, the companies describe, leading to increased viewer engagement and monetization opportunities.
This new solution will provide CBC with the most in-depth view into what individual viewers are seeing and how content is performing for them. Additionally, it will take action to improve the delivery of every stream to avoid quality degradations and outages. CBC will integrate analytics inside their control room, allowing them to monitor the user experience 24/7.
Conviva says that, in the U.S. alone, roughly 60% of all streams experience quality degradations; what's more, viewers watch 250% more when they have an optimal experience with fast start-up, little buffering and a high sustained bitrate.
