Citytv is gearing up for New Year's with the release of a new social media application that connects viewers in real-time.
On December 31, Citytv Social Stream App users will be able to chat live with fellow viewers, participate in Citytv New Year's polls, and have their comments mentioned live on television, using the app and a compatible iOS device.
User-generated content, like photos, can also be uploaded and shared via the app.
"The Citytv Social Stream App embodies the future of viewer-to-viewer digital interaction while watching live programming," said Andrea Gagliardi, Senior Director and GM, Digital, Rogers Broadcasting. "Allowing fans to engage while enjoying their favourite Citytv programs, the App moves the television experience out of the living room, uniting fans across the country."
As well, Citytv talent and performers can chat live with users, sharing their New Year's resolutions and reactions to the expanded, four-hour New Year's Eve show broadcast live from Toronto and Calgary.
The chat also connects to Twitter, and can be followed on Facebook.
The free Citytv Social Stream App is available for download at www.itunes.ca/appstore.
