The Digi Awards are now open, with a brand new competition name and format to honour the best in Canadian digital media creativity.
In addition to the annual awards ceremony - taking place December 6th, 2011 at The Carlu in Toronto - this year a new initiative called The List will debut. Designed to be the definitive index of Canada's digital elite, The List will assemble the year's top companies and projects from across Canada and various industry sectors.
Formally the Canadian New Media Awards, The Digi Awards were relaunched under the current name last December at the tenth annual CNMA gala.
Digi Awards Executive Director Mark Greenspan made the announcement at the Banff World Media Awards at a special session for digital media professionals.
"When we decided to reboot the CNMAs, we wanted to take the opportunity to really rethink the role the awards could play in the Canadian digital industry," said Greenspan. "With The List, we're creating a powerful resource for Canadian and international business, a one-stop-shop for the individuals and companies that are really making waves in this country."
Entrants to The Digi Awards will be reviewed by an expert cross-section of digital leaders from across Canada. Juries will select the top entrants in each category for inclusion in The List, which will be featured online, in trade supplements and in live presentations around the world.
At the Digi Awards ceremony in December, select companies, projects and individuals will be singled out from The List for particular recognition, receiving Digi Awards for their outstanding contribution to the Canadian digital industry. The Digi Awards Ceremony will take place on December 6th, 2011 at The Carlu in Toronto in conjunction with nextMEDIA, Canada's premier digital media event.
Potential entrants are invited to learn more about the competition and entry requirements online, at www.thedigiawards.com.
