The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television will stage a six-day gala in celebration of Canadian screen content creation next year, the first ever Canadian Screen Week.

“Canadian Screen Week represents the future of our three converging industries of film, television and digital media. We will celebrate and explore how it will be a game changer,” said Academy CEO Helga Stephenson.

The industry event will features the Banff World Media Festival Banff Industry Day, nominee reception in partnership with the Canadian Film Centre and the return of IN STUDIO, all culminating in the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards broadcast, a two hour live show on Sunday March 3, 2013 on CBC, hosted by Canadian comedian Martin Short. Events will be staged at various locations in Toronto through the week; and the week's announced media partners will provide coverage and media access.

“With Canadian Screen Week, the Academy is putting Canadian film, television and digital media in the spotlight for the public and providing our members and partners across the industry with an unparalleled networking and business forum,” added Academy Chair Martin Katz.

Established in 1979, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is a national, non-profit, professional association dedicated to the promotion, recognition and celebration of exceptional achievements in Canadian film, television and digital media. Unifying industry professionals across Canada, the Academy is a vital force representing all screen-based industries.
