Yellow Pages Group (YPG) and Yahoo! Canada have expanded their six-year local search partnership, and added new technologies and online capabilities.
Search results will now include additional businesses details, including hours of operation, photos, streaming videos, ratings and reviews.
Users can now receive more accurate local search results, the companies described, based on their search history or location.
YPG’s YellowAPI platform contains listings for some 1.5 million Canadian businesses and enhanced content from over 300,000 businesses that participate as advertisers, or have aggregated third-party content.
Yahoo! users can select newly-customized pages featuring Yahoo! Canada’s branding and a personalized mapping experience.
“Yahoo! is focused on making the things we do everyday more delightful and entertaining, and certainly local search is a core daily experience,” said Gina Cothey, Senior Director of Audience, Yahoo! Canada. “We are pleased to extend our partnership with the Yellow Pages Group to help our users receive the relevant local search results and information they are looking for.”
“By partnering with Yahoo! Canada, we significantly extend our advertisers’ reach on a platform that is outside of our network of properties,” said Nicolas Gaudreau, Chief Marketing Officer, Yellow Pages Group. “This is another milestone in our digital transformation as it shows the growing value of our cutting-edge digital solutions.”
Yahoo! Canada is headquartered in Toronto; it operates sites in both English and French, and cites comScore stats showing more than 16 million Canadian uniques in September, 2012 (comScore Media Matrix).
YPG is held by Yellow Media Inc. which owns and operates a network of online properties reaching over 8 million unique visitors monthly.
