Canada's best and most successful digital media products and services, companies and people, are on 'The List'.
The Digi Awards (formerly the CNMAs) has unveiled its selections in 31 digital media categories, from best in mobile and gaming to web series and tablets.
Finalists of The List have also been selected as the 2011 nominees for this year's Digi Awards; it includes long-stablished mainstream media companies like the CBC and NFB, to new mobile and digital signage companies like TripWow and ScreenScape.
After a decade as the Canadian New Media Awards, the Digi Awards was launched as a new kind of awards program, honouring the best of Canadian digital media while also acknowledging the breadth and scale of the works created and developed here.
"The List is our way of recognizing the top tier of the entire Canadian digital ecosystem in a single place, and will serve as a crucial online resource for anyone in this country and around the world looking to get a sense of who's making waves in Canada," said Mark Greenspan, Executive Director of nextMEDIA.
The nationwide competition culminates in a gala ceremony, to be hosted by Jeremy Hotz December 6 in the grand ballroom at The Carlu in Toronto.
Now in its 11th year, the Digi Awards are a part of nextMEDIA Toronto, a conference and forum on the convergence of all forms of digital media, taking place December 5 and 6, also at The Carlu.
