Mobile Marketing Strategies, Online Ad Execution Delivered by Rogers' OutRank

In its first year of operation, analysis of customer web-traffic usage conducted by online marketing firm OutRank says a third of all product and service searches is done with from a mobile device.

OutRank is a small and autonomous business unit within wireless provider Rogers Communications; it provides a range of services to small business owners designed to generate more customers using improved Web strategies.

OutRank by Rogers has released its own internal stats that show a 60% rise in traffic to its small business customers’ websites coming from mobile devices last year.

As such, marketers say, websites must be ‘device agnostic’ and optimized for smartphones or tablets.

Rogers OutRank offers its own proprietary solutions to support online marketing, including designing, building, updating and hosting websites; online advertising fulfillment, including optimized search and ad word services; ad copy writing and customized video message services.

OutRank’s Web access statistics are based on internal data from more than 1,000 small business customers; data was gathered between Q1 2012 and Q4 2012. Initially, 18 per cent of the visits to OutRank customers’ websites came from mobile devices, the report indicates. By Q4 2012, that number had risen to 29 per cent, a 60 per cent increase.

“These statistics are one more proof point that Canadians are increasingly searching for products and services using their smartphones and tablets,” said Milind Mehere, General Manager, OutRank by Rogers. “If a small business does not have a mobile web presence, it will find itself at a great disadvantage when competing for new business opportunities. OutRank supplies all of its customers with mobile-enabled versions of their websites.”

Milind came to Toronto to head up OutRank from his position as co-founder and manager at Yodle, a U.S.-based tech company that manages small business advertising and marketing.

In early 2012, Yodle and Rogers Communications inked an exclusive agreement to offer Yodle's solutions to local businesses in Canada. OutRank by Rogers is the Yodle-powered platform brand here.

Yodle is also a Google AdWords Premier SMB Partner, one of some 16 companies in North America so named – the designation brings ad leverage and online marketing support through Google AdWords to its customers’ campaigns.
