Stingray Digital, a multiplatform interactive digital music company, has signed a global content deal with EMI Music, giving Stingray access to EMI comprehensive library of music and concert videos.

The content can appear across the range of Stingray's products on a worldwide basis, on digital cable, IPTV, mobile, Web and 'TV-Everywhere' platforms.

The EMI library includes thousands of music videos and concerts from artists like Katy Perry, Coldplay, David Guetta, Norah Jones, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban.

Such content will be offered to the 40 million existing and future customers of the Galaxie Music Videos on Demand service and ConcertTV on video on demand in the US, in Canada, and throughout Europe.

The agreement includes worldwide rights, and is for all platforms including TV and VOD.

One of those platforms, the TELUS Optik TV service, now allows users to launch the Galaxie Application from the main menu. This advanced application allows users to browse all 45 channels and see what's playing without changing the current channel and provides a pleasing look and feel to the Galaxie service. Customers can enjoy album art for not only the song currently playing, but also the one up next, and previously played songs on each channel. Optik TV customers will also be able to review the playlist of the last 24 hours of songs played on each channel, which has been the most requested feature on Galaxie users' wish lists.

The Galaxie Mediaroom service has been created by Stingray Digital to give Optik TV customers an improved, interactive music experience with their service, which currently offers 45 channels of music.

Stingray also recently announced a new carriage deal with Shaw Communications.

"We continue to grow our music products on a worldwide scale across new platforms, and we are actively pursuing global deals that will facilitate the deployment of these services," Eric Boyko, President and CEO of Stingray Digital, said in a statement.

EMI Music labels include Angel, Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol, Capitol Latin, Capitol Records Nashville, EMI Classics, EMI CMG, EMI Records, EMI Records Nashville, Manhattan, Parlophone, Virgin Classics and Virgin Records.

Stingray Digital properties include The KARAOKE Channel, the licensed karaoke library and karaoke service on TV and Internet; Galaxie, a digital music service on TV in Canada; Music Choice Europe, a digital music service on TV in 14 countries in Europe and Africa; and Stingray360, a commercial music and video solutions provider; and its music licensing unit, Stingray Music. Stingray Digital is financially backed by Telesystem and Novacap. Headquartered in Montreal, Stingray Digital has more than 140 employees and additional offices in Los Angeles and London, England.
