Music and entertainment specialty channel MTV is christening its new HD studio with the launch of a brand new, flagship series MTV Showtown.

The new daily comedy talk series leads a series of changes for MTV’s suite of original, in-house Canadian series.

Produced from MTV’s new 299 Queen St. West studio in Toronto, MTV Showtown brings together an ensemble cast led by comedian Graham Chittenden. It begins airing Feb. 5.

“Irreverent, funny, smart and accessible, MTV Showtown is MTV’s nightly connection to the discussion of the day,” described Neil Staite, Vice-President and General Manager, Music and Entertainment, Bell Media. “Late night snacking will never be the same as Graham and the team deliver MTV’s answer to late night with interviews, debates, and comedic wit found only on MTV.”

Among the other in-house productions at MTV, the weekly MTV News, with host Aliya-Jasmine Sovani, who brings viewers the latest in music reviews and interviews in a lively 30-minute format.

Host Matt Wells and producer Rich Wilkinson bring insight and opinion on what movies to see and why, including interviews and segments from the stars in Movie Night.

MTV Showtown is described as the latest and greatest daily flagship series from the hilarious minds at MTV. Each day, hosts Nicole Holness, Paul Lemieux, Sheena Snively, and comedian Graham Chittenden deliberate and kvetch about random hot topics of the day. Beyond the roundtable, the day’s topics are supported with a healthy dose of somewhat-related interviews, taped segments, streeters, and gazing into the Twitterverse for audience feedback.

Returning for its second season, Creeps takes creeping to a whole new level as the panel of three regular judges, or “Creepers,” including MTV Showtown’s own Nicole Holness, scrutinize the posts, pictures, comments, and ultimately the online lives of three social media addicts. Following their analysis, the judges confront the perpetrators!

1 Girl 5 Gays brings together host Lauren Collins with a panel of five gay men for frank, funny discussions on a variety of topics.

MTV in Canada is one of 63 MTV-branded services available in 152 territories around the world.
