Second City Names Digital Branding VP to Implement Business Offerings

Don’t laugh too much, but stand-up comedy and improv skills are a hit in the corporate board room.

From team-building to leadership development, improvisation is more than just for comedy, says Second City Communications, (SCC), a spin off of the popular Second City comedy troupe and improv theatre group.

SCC uses its expertise in presentation, humour and improv to improve their clients’ corporate training & communication programs. Its business division develops training programs, produces training videos and integrates social media tools as part of its service offerings.

To further build up its business portfolio, SCC has named Sandy Marshall to lead the company’s Canadian division, headquartered in Toronto.

Marshall joins SCC in the role of vice president and brings more than 15 years of experience in marketing and digital brand strategy. He is the former founding partner of the Chicago-based marketing agency, Marshall Creative, which provides digital marketing strategy and implementation for clients across many business verticals, including financial services, real estate, health care and others.

Marshall’s hybrid background also includes extensive experience in creative capacities, including collaborating with The Second City for more than 10 years as director of The Second City National Touring Company and aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line; as a writer, actor, and director for Second City Communications; as director for The Second City Network; and as a visiting instructor at The Second City Toronto.

“Sandy’s the perfect fit for helping our clients meet new and emerging challenges at the intersection of social learning and social marketing – how learning/training inside the organization and external marketing are all going social,” said Steve Johnston, president of Second City Communications. “That and Sandy’s stellar credentials in the traditional entertainment space all make for a powerful combination for clients,” added Johnston.
