Telus has unveiled new functions and content offerings on its Optik TV subscription service, adding new mobile and video on demand features to its IPTV platform.
Telus recently released new mobile applications for Android, iPhone and iPad, giving customers access to On Demand shows over Wi-Fi connected portable media devices.
New features include a single PVR for the whole home, the ability to remotely manage recordings from a smartphone, more HD channels and connectivity to social media networks like Facebook on TV.
Using the new mobile app, Optik TV customers can search and select from VOD titles offered by specialty channels like Super Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, and Family.
Hollywood Suite is among them, as well - Telus is one of several carriers now offering the multi-channel movie service, which recently launched in Canada.
As well, now available in a two month preview, the specialty service FX Canada is included in the Optik TV Entertainment Extra theme package.
Telus says FX Canada will be available to its Optik TV subscribers in Alberta and British Columbia in standard definition; soon as On Demand and high definition.
In addition to being available on Telus, FX Canada has already launched on Rogers Digital, EastLink and Cable Cable. FX Canada programs are also available on-demand on Rogers On Demand Online. FX Canada is a part of Rogers Broadcasting Limited.
Optik TV is based on the Microsoft Mediaroom platform.
