As The Race to the Oscars nears the finish line tonight, a new companion app is providing front row access to Hollywood’s biggest celebration.
It’s offering users the latest Academy Award news about all the winners and losers, the fashionistas and trend setters with photos, news and background information on all of the film nominees.
App users also get the chance to vote in each Academy Award categories.
Alberta-based mobile media and second screen application developer Mobovivo reports its gamification API, part of the StayTuned social TV platform is has developed, is being used to power the new app, called The Race to the Oscars.
The app was released by Prometheus Global Media, publishers of The Hollywood Reporter.
Mobovivo’s award-winning technology will be used to allow audiences to vote on the outcome of the Academy Awards, see how others have voted and share their votes on Facebook and Twitter.
The iOS and Android app allows users to view the all the Oscar nominees, while tracking the latest red carpet buzz with Twitter and blog feeds; interactive app elements include the voting and prediction features, as well as triva tests of Oscar knowledge.
