Montreal-based mobile video solutions provider Vantrix is working with traffic processing platform provider QuickFire Networks on a next generation mobile video processing solution.
They’ve developed a purpose-built mobile video appliance said to enable new services and mobile performance standards from a single unit, not a full rack of servers.
Called the QuickFire Network T-Video V1100, it’s built around Intel Core i7 processors, and designed from the ground up for mobile video. It can output 100+ high definition video streams simultaneously, the companies describe, in the same form factor.
“The QuickFire Networks T-Video platform is a perfect complement to us to demonstrate the scalable design of our software architecture,” President and CEO of Vantrix Jim Knapik described. “Our Bandwidth Optimizer solution easily adapts to the radical new implementation and allows us to scale far beyond what’s currently possible on other commercial platforms.”
The T-Video platform is said to have a 3X denser/higher-performance than standard blade solutions, with a 15X greater density than other server solutions, for what’s described as a 10-20 percent mobile operation improvement.
“Video traffic growth demands ultra-high density platforms so that Service Providers can cost effectively deploy optimization solutions,” noted QuickFire’s CEO Mike Coward, “but the existing platforms are repurposed datacenter and telecom systems designed for other applications.”
Vantrix provides bandwidth optimization, deep network traffic intelligence, and granular policy enforcement technologies for mobile and Web video operators. The company recently closed a $13.5 million Series D financing round.
