Videotron reports that its illico.tv app for iPad has passed the 100,000-downloads mark.
Released during the holiday period late last year, the app is available free of charge from the App Store or iTunes; it lets Videotron customers access popular programs from many of the channels in their TV package, whenever and wherever they want.
"Reaching 100,000 downloads this fast is proof positive that the app meets customers' needs and reflects the care and thought we put into developing a product that provides the best possible technological and entertainment experience," said Manon Brouillette, President, Consumer Market.
The iPad app supports both live streaming TV and video on demand. Users can remotely program their video recorder, view the full TV schedule and watch thousands of hours of content from more than 40 television channels, including the new Canadian mobile channel, Lib tv, as the app adds a new option to the illico access platforms that have already been developed for the Web, television and mobile devices.
Content available from illico.tv available on the iPad app will be "enriched in the coming months", the company added.
